By entering this contest, you agree to the following rules of entry and terms and conditions:

1. This competition is open to all residents of Manitoba, 16 years of age or over.

2. A non-refundable entry fee of $45 for MSA members and $50 for non-members must accompany all entry forms.   Any entry without the fee will be automatically disqualified. Payment can be made by E -transfer or cheque.

a. eTransfer to submit@manitobaartists.com with your bank’s app In the transfer comments, please include “Artist Name, OJCE 2025” This will be a direct deposit to the MSA account and your bank will send you a receipt.

b. Cheques can be payable to “Manitoba Society Of Artists” and mailed to MSA OJCE Manitoba Society of Artists, 120 Eugenie Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba R2H 1H3. In the memo field, include “Artist Name, OJCE 2025”.

3. All entries only accepted via this form (no snail mail or email).

4. There is no commission withheld by the MSA, however, the MHC Gallery charges a 20% commission on all sales.

5. All work submitted must be the original and unaided work of the Artist. Work must not be copied from other artists’ work or photographs. Artist is responsible to warrant that they own the copyright to the work entered. Work must have been completed within the last three years and not shown in a previous Manitoba Society of Artists Juried Exhibition. Work date of completion CLEARLY MARKED on the entry form.

6. All artwork will be assessed by the image (.jpg, .jpeg,) provided by the artist.

7. No photographic art will be accepted. (this pertains to the medium of the work, not the submission process). All works of art and frames must be dry at the time of submission or they will not be accepted.

8. Framing: all work must be ready to hang with adequate wire on the back. Stretchers used for gallery canvases must have visible edges presently finished. Water colours, drawings, original prints and all other works on paper must be under glass with a metal or either suitable frame.(NO gallery clips accepted) 

9.  The artist is responsible for setup of any art that requires any special transport or display.

10.  Labels must be completed and attached to the back of each work.

11.  Active members of the Society may submit three works and will receive 80% of any sale.

12.  Non-members may submit two works and will receive 80% of any sale.  

13.  Participating works of art will only be released to the artist unless the MSA has written authorization from the artist to release the art to a personal representative. The MSA reserves the right to request photo ID.  

14.  The artist is responsible for adhering to all deadlines. All artworks must be delivered and picked up according to the exhibit schedule designed by the MSA.   

15.   Any art left beyond the pick up date in a handling/storage fee of $10 per day.

16.  All work submitted must be able to be in the MSA possession from July 11 to August 30, 2025.

Other important notes:

1.  Reasonable care will be taken and handling the works of art submitted, but all entries are at the artist’s risk.

2.  The MSA may pay  an “artist’s fee “on a pro-rated system, based on the funds available, and the number of works in the exhibition

3.  The Manitoba Society of Artists reserves the right to reject any work that does not follow the above rules. 


Jurying and Notification


• The Shortlisted entries (up to 70 works) will be tagged online.

• The Awarded entries (up to 12) will be tagged online.

Jurying and Notification

Online Submissions will be juried by a panel of two art professionals, who are not affiliated with MSA. Please note jurying results will not be relayed over the phone. The jury panel –art selection judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding the selection of pieces.

Copyright

Artists are responsible for ensuring that there are no copyright issues or other legal issues attached to images used or the subjects within their commission. Entries must be submitted by the original artist. You must be the sole owner of the image (and the original work) you submit, and the submission of the piece and the entry form is your guarantee that you are the author and copyright holder of the work.

Ownership/Use Rights

Artists retain the copyright of their work. By entering the exhibition, artists/writers agree to have their submitted images/written work displayed on the msaojce.ca and manitobasocietyofartists.com websites as well as any other marketing/PR paraphernalia without any fee or other form of compensation. Images will be credited to the artist only after the winning submission has been determined.

Additional Terms and Conditions

By participating in the show, you agree to release and hold harmless any affiliate of Manitoba Society of Artists, board, affiliates, agents and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all damages, injuries, claims, causes of actions, or losses of any kind resulting from your participation in this exhibition, including infringement of intellectual property rights.
